After our last misadventures with the domain name interouts.com, we came rapidly to the realisation (And that mainly due to the mail we received during the past month) that there was a clear lack of information concerning our aims and objectives. It was not something intended and as a matter of a fact if anyone dedicatedly follows the many links in our newspaper and the other websites we manage, they will finish by piecing all the bits together.
It is understandably not a user friendly way of finding information and if I may add, during the few terrible days in November 2023, we really learnt what the value of true friendship was and the radical difference provided by the support of some of our readers and followers during this period of hardship. So we took some measures as soon as was possible to remedy this uncomfortable situation.
Soon, a page will be added with multiple ways of how to contact us and we will also add a FAQ on the same page. Although we will increase the publication rate, it has been steadily increased all through the past year. We intend to maintain the status of ‘Prototype’ for ‘The International Outsider’ which actually means that we will not have subscriptions, comments or likes on the newspaper, YouTube and most of the social media associated with the International Outsider albeit one exception and I will come to that a bit later. It can appear contradictory that we maintain the status quo on so many levels while saying that we intend to improve communication with our friends, readers and followers. This can be understood simply by knowing that originally, ‘The International Outsider’ was meant to stay in that state for at least the next few years. However the past few years have been so rich in events which have proven to us that the Outsider can fulfil all the tasks for which it has been conceived and the last events have demonstrated that the International Outsider is able to take huge amounts of damage and still stay afloat and that was exactly what the people who conceived the site told us. Thus, while still being a prototype, the day on which it will become fully operational does not count in years anymore but instead in months and for that at least, the last crisis has been beneficial.
One of the tasks of the International Outsider as a tool is to probe and eventually prove our concept of Native SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Without I hope falling in the boring technical aspects, let’s say that we are trying to develop ways to escape the dictates of the main search engines like Google and Bing whose end search results are rarely organic or not always showing the real position of a site. If that sounds complicated and unfortunately sometimes it can be, let’s take the example of a case which we have been working on to understand this. In 2023 the Journalist Gonzalo Lira was arrested in the city of Kharkov in Ukraine. This case is marked by us as an extremely important one for many reasons. (1), we have been following Gonzalo before his incarceration and he belongs to a group or category of people that we dubbed at the International Outsider as the ‘New Guard’, in a nutshell people of the alternative media who try to give the general public views which can radically differ from the ones championed on the main stream media. 2, Gonzalo’s case concerns both freedom of speech and human rights, two subjects on which we have a zero degree of tolerance when they are threatened. We have so far written five articles about him and as far I am personally concerned, there is one that I am in the process of completing which is a follow up on the subject. 3, Gonzalo was operating in the city of Kharkov, this city is part of a ring of cities and places like Aberdeen, Seoul, Brest (France) Kaliningrad, Kempton Park & Cape Town as well as few places in Zimbabwe that we consider very close to home. Thus in a few words, anything happening in the city of Kharkov is of intense interest to us. The stage was set for us to start a modest campaign asking for Gonzalo to be freed but our research team (Certainly not what you are thinking about, picture five guys scattered throughout the globe with multiple screens in front of them, we call ourselves ‘International’ not because of any kind of planetary reach or ambition but simply because our human assets are separated by manmade international borders). And if most of the work done is in The Republic of South Africa, the company covering our activities is situated in the United Kingdom. We found that Gonzalo’s case was also a way for us to test our ‘Native SEO’ on the South American Continent. Why South America? First of all, Gonzalo Lira despite being a US citizen also has a Chilean passport as originally he was born in this country, secondly at its best, The International Outsider has had a reach of 130,000 unique visitors per month, something we achieve without advertising. The promotion of an article barely amounts to an account on Twitter (X) that posts the links on an irregular basis. Despite these very encouraging numbers , our results in South America have always been almost non-existent. Since then the Native ’SEO’ has been switched on for South America, we are monitoring our progress throughout this continent and the final results will be known around March of this year.
Being able to manage at a high degree our search results has been a key factor for our survival during these dark days in November 2023. We wrote recently that we would avoid discussing the events during a period of time to avoid interfering in any potential legal action, it is still the case. Nevertheless, a few other things can be clarified. In November for reasons I still will not reveal here, we lost our grip on the Domain Name Interouts.com, and in the meantime, we were conveniently under massive computer attacks denying us the means to transact at an international level. The main aspect of our security worked perfectly, the communication network was immediately disconnected and the only computers allowed to dwell on the internet were the Honey Pots filled with fake data, data which we thought was the ultimate target of the attack. The Honey Pots worked magnificently but they were devoid of any useful information for us to continue our day to day business, we had to wait for the passing of the storm. When we came back online we had lost interouts.com (Of course you will understand that the whole story is way more complicated than this very short resume). Our fist reflex was to buy it again; it was just an inconvenience but a minor one. We were only half surprised to see that it was not available anymore. What did astonish us that it was now offered by the giant (Note:Each Link to GODADDY goes to a different tech website explaining why no one should use GODDADY, they have an awful reputation on the internet and despite a colossal public relation department hammering and adverts running during the Super Bowl there is a complete website on the internet dedicated to their horror stories(antigodaddy.com)) company GODADDY at the whopping 54,000 Rand equating to some 3000 USD. They knew that we had no choice apart from finding a solution that allowed us to publish implying buying it with them or begging a deal from them, which would leave them as the owner of interouts.com while renting the site to us at an onerous price. What would have come undoubtedly as a surprise to them is the fact that we did not bother to contact them, not even once. We bought several domains carrying the name interouts, re-uploaded our site on them and immediately applied our ‘Native’ SEO to the sites. Only then, did we publish an article explaining what happened to the newspaper. What is interesting is that in this article, we complained bitterly about the excessive price asked by GODDADY and a few hours later, GODDADY had dropped its price from ZAR 54,000 (2850 USD) to ZAR 14,000 or some 750 Dollars which is quite a remarkable reaction! That fact and our ability to know who accesses our websites makes us absolutely certain that GODDADY dropped its price after reading our article. Knowing that and as I have many times spoken in the name of The International Outsider, I will formulate here our first and final proposition to GODADDY.
Dear Mister Wandering DADDY (Well I was not sure what the ‘Go’ in the name refers to).
First and foremost, thank you to take so much interest to our little newspaper from an unknown part of the world. We are very flattered by the price you first put on our heads but to tell you frankly, we did not have a budget of 3000 USD for a Domain name and in fact we never did. What about the 750 USD you are proposing now as a vulture hoping to be left at least part of the feast? The answer is No! for that too. You may wonder why? Well, in the Republic of South Africa, 750 USD turns to become something like around 14,000 of our currency, way over the amount that millions of citizens and migrants that constitute this nation, will ever see as a monthly salary. If I had 14,000 in our hands right now, I would invest 4000 bucks to improve our own network. With the 10,000 left I would acquire 8 low spec PC’s that I would charge with Linux OS and offer them to impoverished families who can only dream of having a PC at home on our next visit. And I know these people would make excellent use of them. DADDY, if I am telling you that, it is not for you to take pity on me and encourage you to drop your price. Nah! I just want to understand that despite there being a lot of people in this country able to pay a Domain Name at this price, we would find it revolting to do so having in mind other people living in miserable conditions. What we find even more revolting is to do business with people with a total lack of business ethics. However I will make our offer to you. We will happily buy the Interouts.com Domain from you at the regular price proposed by the registrar and will offer you a generous symbolic 0.50 USD to reward your efforts, your spying and revolting commercial attitude. Unless, well you can go, Daddy.
In the mean time we will continue to buy domains associated to interouts, which means as you know that anyone in the future who buys the interouts.com will be confronted by the fact that for the public, they will be associated to us which could in a way be negative to the goodwill. After all we are a newspaper and our views are not necessarily popular (As old as a Daddy can be and being an SEO expert yourself, I am sure, you will figure out that one).
Sincerely yours,
The Outsiders
Anyone doing a minimum of research on the internet will discover very quickly that beyond the cosmetic Godaddy is a business without an ounce of morality, we had nothing to do with them, they stole and now are trying to sell us our own ideas. Godaddy has been at the focal point of many scandals in the past years, one that has made the headlines and that concerns us in Africa is when Godaddy's CEO Bob-Parsons posted proudly on March 2011 a picture of him standing proudly in front of the dead elephant that he previously killed, back then the picture provoked a scandal, as I said earlier even if money meant nothing to us there is nothing that would have convinced us to do business with such people.
That should close the GoDaddy chapter for us. There is of course more to say, but as I specified earlier, I have limits on what I can reveal; I can a give few hints however. But we do have contingency plans in case someone uses the.com domain to make a mockery of our newspaper as well as the triggers which will make us initiate legal procedures against GoDaddy. All of which must await the results of our investigations and forensics, aiming to retrace step by step the actors involved in this affair which is far from having ended.
Let’s continue regarding the measures we took to allow better communication between us and our readers. Facebook comes to mind but few months ago our account got hacked and though we are attempting to have a stable account on FB, it is quite problematic. We were left Twitter, Among the 7 accounts we manage on Twitter which we call TwiteX since Musk has had his identity tantrum, 2 were created and managed from South Africa. These accounts up to now were under the same restrictions, they could take a limited amount of followers, they could not make use of the #tag and were even limited in the amount of posts they were allowed. All those restrictions have been lifted and in the next week we drastically increase our activities on TwiteX. It is even possible that by the month’s end, one or both accounts apply for confirmation on TwiteX which will allow longer posts, ideal for us, people heavily affected by verbal diarrhea. Even though late, I convey to all of our readers, friends and followers, a wonderful year in 2024. Will follow two embedded pinned tweets of the two South African Twitter accounts which give even more insight into the International Outsider and Facebook Rhapsody which also accomplish this function and appeared recently in the ‘ Bio’ of my colleague Anton on Facebook. And of course to know us even better, read our articles on Interouts.uk or interouts.co.za
1-25 I resisted long to change my Pinned Tweet on TwitteX. Simply because I have a strong distaste for ephemerality. I enjoy stability in time…continuity. It does not really mean that I do not want things to evolve…Anyway the link to the precedent Pin was recently broken so... pic.twitter.com/m29HEXGVW1

I never thought that it would be great to have a page on Facebook. However, as this page is not visited for the time being it is pure joy. I am participating in our campaign to restore the many links of The International Outsider. For this purpose, I am busy posting all the articles that have ever appeared on our Online Newspaper, this is a long endeavour. By the way, here and there in between my posts , you will see a notice warning that this account could be shut down at any moment, there are a few reasons for that. Reason one; I am allergic to social media (All of THEM!). Then there is the fact that I always lose my access codes, forget them or God knows what. If a Freudian artist analyzes this state of affairs, he would conclude that I do everything unconsciously to avoid the psychotic world of online chatting. However social media remains an unconditional tool of the Web. This page can also be disabled at any moment because our online newspaper does not match the ‘requisites’ of the mainstream media. Understanding us becomes easy when one knows the mottos that appear on our newspaper i.e. “What is not written does not exist” and “To boldly write what is never written”. The two arguments aim to demonstrate that we do not stop at anything to bring the most unbiased (If such a thing is possible) version of the news and that we analyze everything extensively. The second motto also gives a hint to our scientific tradition as we strive to bring news on science in general with a clear focus on astronomy which we promote actively in the Southern African region. Without being one of our slogans, you will hear us very often say that “We do not do things like others” which leads me to explain the true nature of the International Outsider and unfortunately, that will need one or two paragraphs of historical digression.
In our test podcast ‘The Scientific Outsider’ I replied to a question from my colleague and friend ‘Steven Martin’ by stating that “the International Outsider is a prototype”. And as a matter of a fact, it is, it is a functional prototype but still remains a prototype. One thing is however certain, we will keep on improving and ameliorating the quality of the information that we print online. We cannot be sure in what format the International Outsider will be in Ten years but what we are sure of (At least that’s the idea), is that The Outsider will survive in its actual state or another one. One other very important factor to consider is that our online newspaper is an important tool but only one among the others that we use to explore and understand the internet. But let me here be a little bit more specific.
The tools we use are either totally developed by us or we work on an open-source project, developing and tailor making it to suit our needs. One example illustrating the second option is Verbot 5 which is an ‘abandonware’ that we have adapted to our internal network and is today essential to our network (About Verbot Julia ,we will soon publish an article in The International Outsider titled Verbot 5 on windows 10). Developing your own software can sometimes have very interesting outcomes and most often of the unexpected kind. Almost ten years ago, we came to the realization that the Internet Café business was literally gigantic in South Africa as well as across Africa. You could find dozens of them in a small city and this number just inflated, the more the agglomeration was populated. Even today in the monopolistic era of the mobile phone, the Internet Cafés are still common in South Africa but everyone agrees to say that they are on the decline. Back in the days however, the Café was a social phenomenon. We made a survey throughout dozens of Internet Cafés across the country to know what were the sites that were the most frequently accessed and created a toolbar with those specifics Links (Facebook, Twitter, Gumtree, Sports betting sites etc). You could also make your Google, Yahoo and Bing search from the same platform. Our toolbar differed from the others that existed on the internet by two major aspects, first it was dedicated to Internet Cafés and each Internet Café had a tailor-made toolbar stored on a website belonging to the owner of the Café, furthermore the toolbar came with a communication app connecting all the Cafés running on the system. The results of the first test runs were beyond any expectations, the owner of the internet cafés where we installed our software found themselves rapidly at the first place of the organic research on Google and to beat the visibility of our websites, you really had to have an AD on your site. Our toolbars were making hundreds of thousands of clicks per day generating insane amounts of traffic. In a matter of months, we had toolbars installed in Durban, Cape Town, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Ivory Coast, Namibia, Cameroon and the Congo. Then a few things happened, some people became very scared about our success. The competition saw us like people who could place any business at any time at the top of the engine’s search results. Obviously, the Intelligence Services were not happy as one of the first things we did was to get rid of all the spyware that the different ‘Security Agencies’ judged adequate to install in the various cafés in which we were working. Understandably, that did not go down well. At the time we were so involved in the development of our tailor-made toolbar that we ignored the signs and very soon, big companies were accusing our software of having nefarious aims without ever proving any of it of course. We did not put up a fight, and many did not understand why. The answer to that question is simple, the toolbar as its name indicates was just a mere tool for us and while many saw a dollar sign or a threat to their hegemony, we simply wanted to know if it would work and we had the answer. The network was operational, and we implemented back then a communication system assisted with AI. During the same time, we published a newsletter which would ultimately become the International Outsider. Today you can find an overhyped version of the Toolbar for PC on this address Astroverbot Julia's Toolbar ( https://interouts.uk/astronomy-toolbar/ ) and we still provide some dedicated toolbars to clients who feel the need for it.
This adventure does not explain my dislike for Facebook but gives a light of what we think at the International Outsider about big Tech companies or oversized providers. My real dislike for Facebook came from the day I was blocked because of posting a Chinese article about their new giant radio telescope FAST. I could not find any reason for it except that the newspaper was Chinese. There are a lot of instances which could explain why I never got really hooked on Facebook but recently the FB page of our company has been hacked and we learned with consternation how Facebook was useless in public relation and customer services. We finally got the account disabled so that it cannot interact with anyone, but it is still here on view for anyone. It was neither an easy task to get it disabled as proven by the crowd of people powerless in front of their accounts being hacked with FB not taking any action, sometimes for years.
Very recently something worse happened to us, we lost our domain name at interouts.com (It was a foul play). The company, Godaddy is now attempting to sell it on the market at an odiously inflated price. It feels like a scam and that is exactly what it is (On the 30th November, we published an Article concerning the matter and I will not enter into the details as we have a clear strategy about the issue and how to tackle it so discussing it here would reveal a bit too clearly our intentions to the adversary, but soon, we will do the follow up with full details for our readers). I am speaking about this incident to showcase the fact that the International Outsider has been built to take a lot of damage and punishment and still be able to function and survive, would we have taken a different approach, this last event would certainly have knocked us down. This event explains why as from today, I will be ensuring that at least one of us continue to post on Facebook (As long as the account survives of course) as we find ourselves with a gigantic number of dead links scattered on the internet which all convey to the domain interouts.com. Thus, we have to do our best to replace those defunct links by correct ones. It is a rather simple explanation of what is in reality a very complicated endeavour.
What is not written does not exist.
